About the Tav

Built in the 1600s, The Eagle Tavern first opened its doors as a pub in 1756.

The Eagle Tavern opened as a traditional coaching house: the central corridor of the pub (as you walk through the doors and look through to the garden) was once an open path where coach drivers led the horses through to rest on their journeys from London to Cheltenham.

Refurbished in 2000, the pub retains many of its historic features, with the oak beams and open fireplace offering that quintessential Cotswold pub vibe.

But whilst we are very proud of its history and provenance as a traditional British pub, there is a lot of life and energy in this old bird yet and under the management and care of our family, it has become one of the most loved and popular pubs in town. Thanks for visiting!
